Description

This is my new map "The Mutant Factor" which picks up where "Rescue Mission" leaves off.

Nomad passes out in the VTOL on the ride back from the last mission, only to wake up in an underground facility in the aftermath of a brutal battle. You find out that the infection discovered in "Rescue Mission" has found it's way back this american facility and, while Nomad seems to be infected, his body is reacting very differently. Dr. SHepherd contacts Nomad through his headset and tries to guide him out of the facility through various mutated soldiers which proves to be easier said than done. Along the way Nomad encounters various "visions" and a disembodied voice that may be his daughter gone missing 3 years prior.

This map is a mixture of solids and props to create a creepy indoor environment along the lines of F.E.A.R. and Halflife.

Installation guide:

This map is best played in Crysis Wars since that is the editor I used, however, it has been tested and works in both just fine.

If you are playing it in Crysis:

1.Go to your Crysis game folder -> Electronic Arts -> Crytek -> Crysis -> Game -> Levels.
2.Eventually backup existing levels with the same name.
3.Copy the level folder from the downloaded file into the current game folder (Game/Levels).
4.Start Crysis
5.Open console and type in "con_restricted 0" (without "") to allow access to console commands
6.Load your custom map by typing in "map mapname" (Without "") and press Enter.

Additionally you can use the Crytools Launcher to load your custom level in Crysis.

If you are playing it in Crysis Wars:

1.If you haven't already, you first need to download and install the SP Mod for Crysis Wars found here: http://www.crymod.com/filebase_redirect.php?fid=15184
2.Follow the installation instructions and launch the mod using the SP Mod shortcut
3.Go to Singleplayer
4. Select New Game
5. Select the map named "Mutant1" and enjoy!

Ah ok. That is a good reason to wait! I played Rescue Mission already and enjoyed it but I guess I will give it another spin :) I look forward to further maps from you!

  Thanks! I'm working on 1 map for a Mod team right now (that I cannot reveal) which will hold me over until Crysis 2 comes out then I start full boar on my "Mutant Factor" mod!

This is fantastic. It really is very much like fear but with better graphics. The effects are also very impressive! I certainly have jumped a couple of times so far!

I hope it goes out into the Jungle too Farcry 1 stylee :) If not please do some jungle bits in your "newer better version". How come you are are stopping work on the sequel surely if cry2 uses the same tools it doesn't matter?

Anyways first class work. A*. Best mod since Crysis the Resort!

  Thanks for the feedback! Actually, you can download "Rescue Mission" which is a more standard Jungle theme and the prequel to this map. There is a link on this page.
  
  As for the engine switch, well,...The newer editor has many improvements over the current tech such as better lighting.

Well,....I have bad news and I have good news:
The bad news is that I stopped working on a sequel because Crysis2 is coming in a few months wit the same tools.
The good news is that I have already begun production on a newer, better version of the mod. I will be several levels long and I have already started on the new script. I hope to record voiceovers before the release of C2 and I hope to create some "pre-vis" levels for testing. It should tell you the whole story but you will have to wait longer. Sorry.

Hey, thanks a lot for making and uploading this map it's awesome, spooky and it gives a nice breath of new gameplay to Crysis. Please say you're making the next part! If so, I can't wait! My only criticism is that when it got more action-oriented it got a bit less scary.

  I have been batting about some ideas for a sequel map and have even layed those out in a new map file. I may be slowed down on this idea as I have joined a mod team and may have less time to make this one. That does not mean that it will not happen though so stay tuned! Thanks for the kind words!

Hei McKool.
Well i create maps on my own, but i never will believe that someone could build such a good map! I just couldn't do anything other but rating this map with 5 stars in each cathegory and recomment this masterpiece to everyone who likes crysis. It's much better than the standart maps! Please make a 2nd part.!

Sounds like either your download was corrupted or you do not have Winrar. It is a rar file and will not open with winzip. If you do have winrar (free trial download) then re-download the map. If that doesn't work then post a reply and I will send you a different download link.

Imho this is McKools best effort so far. It is a melange of game- elements seen in other games like Fear or System Shock but successfully merged and well executed in this little map. Wow! Its like breathing fresh air for a change.
